Gutted about Balder, heard the news on Sunday. A horse that has won for me on a few occasions. :(

Blimey, I didn't even know it had fallen or been put down.

Shame that, had had an excellent season.

For all the doubters and the liberals that the racing industry does not give a fuck about their horses...

Tiggy Wiggy is awesome.

Re: 2015 Grand National
Yes they ran apalling, one i backed ante post Jamaica was shocking. The one who won that ran Zawraq looked decent.

My money for the 2000Gs has been on Ivawood for a long time altho he got beaten by a 25-1 shot on unsuitable ground LTO. I still feel he has a chance and I am happy with my 16s on him.

A bloke I work with went down to Newmarket the other week to meet up with his mate an ex jockey who is now a stable lad for Stoute. They seem to think their filly Sympathy has a decent EW for the 1000gs, she is available at 33s. I havent gone in large tho as i dont know this guys mate so he could be saying anything. I know my workmate put £20 on the nose tho. I just had a smallish EW bet just for interest.

As for Tiggy Wiggy, very speedy type but like you say it depends on if she gets the distance or not. Worth a try tho.

Re: 2015 Grand National
No Jon nothing ante post.... might be the year that Coolmore does not have a monopoly on the Derby.... their contenders ran like a drain on Sunday... one I really liked the look of was Balding horse Elm Park... think it's going straight to the 2000G's without a prep run and that's the one thing that is putting me off having a dabble on him.. I hate horses going straight to a classic run without a prep... would never happen in the US you have to run in preps and get points to contest the classics... should be the same here.... 1000G's I really like Tiggy Wiggy it's just whether she gets the distance or not... 8f might be a bit long for her

Really? Thought it would be more than a poind.

Anyone backed ante post for the Guineas or Derby this year?

Re: 2015 Grand National
I doubt many nationals have been run on ground that fast either.

They're not used to the sun up north.

Re: 2015 Grand National
hard to judge the time records now, as they have shortened the race by over 100 yards.
so they are not at full pelt approaching the first

Jon... he'll only be going up one pound for his exploits so it wont be the weight that will stop him... amazing stat about GN winners not winning a race after,,, makes Red Rums record seem all the more extraordinary ... I reckon Many Clouds will be the first horse in a long long time to at least win at least one more race!

He wont be winning it next year then. Was just discussing this with Ray (Trent) and how horses that win the national are basically fucked from winning any other race now. The handicapper really is in charge!!

Ha ha....

actually just read... they have officilally made Many Clouds the highest rated horse to win the National since Red Rum... not a bad national was it?

Some of those jockeys need to be thrashed with the birch from The Chair. :-)

Re: 2015 Grand National
Rocky Creek was banged into towards the end of the first circuit. I think he spat the dummy and didnt seem to enjoy the rest of the race. Guess some horses are just like that...........like footballers who get nailed early on and dont want to know :-)

Re: 2015 Grand National
Just maybe... the other horses struggled as it was the second quickest recorded national ever.... maybe ... just maybe... the Jocks were going at a pace that they knew they might have something at the end...?? Who knows??
As per Mike Tindals instructions to Monbeg Dude's jockey... "Just fucking hang on"

Grumpster 5:01 Mon Apr 13
Re: 2015 Grand National
Haven't said a thing about them, am talking about trainer instructions.

I have no idea who rode what, but if there were no instructions given to Rocky Creek (only picking on him, as I watched the horse due to Hearney's tip), then it was an odd decision to run him there.

Ah.... moaning about the Jockeys.... been at least two hours or so....

Grumpster 4:18 Mon Apr 13
Re: 2015 Grand National
Is it also bad instructions from the trainers though as to where he wants the horse and how it should be ridden?

As stated with Rocky Creek, the horse ran a completely different race to last year where it was too gung ho, but I can't believe that the jockey would have thought it a good idea to run so wide throughout, as being pushed even wider at the huge Aintree bends makes it impossible to have a realistic chance.

Re: 2015 Grand National
haha

I would also put the third Monbeg Dude in the same bracket. Held up with Cause of Causes giving the horse very little chance of winning. He made the move quicker than CoC and stayed on well into third.

Like I said before it was like riding the horses to get round and not to win the race.

Many Clouds took the shortest route round and was prominent throughout the race. I understand not all horses can take the shortest route but the horses at the rear needed to try and get into contention sooner rather than later. Or at least try and do that.

I had rather CoC pulled up not going the gallop than the dogshite ride Carberry gave him.
